The Repaint Doll Registry™

holds quarterly themed members challenges every MARCH, MERMAY (bonus), JUNE, SEPTEMBER, and DECEMBER, where all potential winners will be voted on by all our non-competing members based on;

  1. Technical Acuity (how sharp the artist’s skills are),

  2. the accurate Interpretation of the Theme &

  3. the Overall Appearance. On this page we will display all themes for the whole year so you can plan on which challenges you want to participate in ahead of time!

Rules

  • Only members with their membership paid and in good standing can enter challenges.

  • Previous winners in any category (novice, intermediate, advanced, professional) are not eligible to win again for the remaining calendar year, however, they may still participate in the remaining challenges and we will display their work on the Show Page and advertising media. We are happy to have you show your work, you just won't be able to win again within that year.

  • Entries must be NEWLY created work (within one year) upon entry into a challenge. Upon completion, your repaint may be offered for sale BUT must be registered in our Registry at the time of creation; or prior to entering the challenge. This will help us document when artwork was created. Once the piece is Registered, it may be offered for sale, even if this time frame is prior to the opening of that show.

  • Our challenge themes are announced ahead of time so this will allow members to work in advance of a challenge, register the repaint, sell the doll and then enter the challenge when it opens. This is to ensure that the entry is the current work of the artist and not artwork from their past body of work.

  • Entries must be entirely the work of the artist. The only exceptions are you can use purchased eyes/eyelashes; miscellaneous purchased accessories are allowed in the display/base/vignette but the doll must be completely original workmanship by the artist. The costuming, wings, crowns, etc. must also be the original work of the artist; any deviation from this criteria must be submitted in writing to our Administrator prior to entry for consideration and pre-approval.

  • Entries must meet the criteria/theme for the challenge. Non-competing members rate the entry on how the piece complies with the theme for that challenge so be sure your work represents the theme. Your entry will sadly not be accepted if it obviously does not fit the theme.

  • Entries will be accepted throughout the calendar month of the current repaint challenge and also will be accepted one month leading up to that Show. You may not enter a piece more than a month before the challenge starts.

  • Members who are newcomers/novice/beginners to repainting may enter at the Novice Level. This is left to the discretion of each artist and they are expected to be forthright about this, we will not discriminate.

  • Once an artist wins at Novice, they will from then on enter at the Intermediate Level (or the next appropriate level above), and may remain there until they either WIN AT INTERMEDIATE LEVEL or feel comfortable moving on to the Advanced level themselves, which they can do if they wish. This gives other newcomers a chance to win at the Novice Level.

  • Members may enter at any artist level they feel their work qualifies, but they must move to the next level once they win at the level they entered. Documents are kept by Admin to assure fairness in this rule.  If there is an obvious discrepancy to this rule, Admin reserves the right to move an entry from Novice to Intermediate or Advanced.

  • Failure to comply with the above rules will sadly result in the rejection of the entry. We expect our members to comply with these rules and additionally expect a good faith effort from everyone to do so.

  • We allow only ONE entry per member, per challenge.

  • In order to avoid any hint of bias by the judging non-competing members, competing members must keep their work private and unpublished online or social media until the winners of the challenge are announced. This includes posting images on any social media. To prevent work from being identified, the names of the Artists will not be posted on the challenge page until after the winners have been selected. We do understand that this is very difficult to do as we love sharing our passion for this art form with the world, but, once the challenge is done, you can share to your heart’s delight! Thank you for your cooperation in this sensitive matter. We want to keep the challenges FUN and FAIR for everyone and not hinder the surprise when winners are announced. That is an ideal time to promote your work for sale.
    NOTE:
We obviously can’t police the entire internet to ensure this rule is followed so we will rely on the honor system and will take our member’s word that they will follow this rule to avoid disqualification.

  • Admin. reserves the right to select, edit, crop or otherwise adjust photos to properly fit the Challenge Page as they need to correctly fit the format of that page.

Now Let’s Have Fun!
